There is something very captivating about a photograph when taken out of focus... it makes you look a little closer; inspires your thoughts and eyes to gaze a little longer and explore the lack of clarity. I usually shoot crisp photos, but every once in a while when I'm playing with manual focus, I like to blur things just a bit...
I took these during a walk the other day (you can see the rest of the photos here). It was about 4:00, and the sun was in the sky just so that it shone through the trees intensely in places and more subtly in others. This was the first time in a while I went on a bonafide photo expedition and took advantage of my solitude and time to enjoy my camera and surroundings. It was fun to play with the light dancing off of moistened tree-leaves and ferns.
I have been so consumed by other things this summer that besides taking daily walks, I have not taken much time to look outside and breathe in the beauty of the woods and sky and earth around me.
I am glad I took this time, even if it was merely an hour, to forget about life for a while and embrace the summer sun and life outside my house.
