Purity

This is the first piece I ever composed.

...the way I wrote that, it sounds like I've composed a whole lot more than 3 pieces.... anyway....

I wrote it when I took fiddle lessons from Katie Wegner (I don't think she's updated her website in a while, but if you're interested, you can see it here). I can't remember exactly which year I came up with the waltz.... it was either 6th or 7th grade. Katie helped me a bit with the harmony, but I've since tweaked it some.

I originally titled it "Ocean of Purity..."

That was in the stage where I wrote a lot of "deep" poems and stories. Not likin' that name so much now, so I've just shortened it to "Purity," because it suits the piece and the circumstances in my life when it was composed. As I was recording, I realized how much my style has changed.... I am a lot less methodical now, which is interesting.... goes along with many aspects of my life, I think.

Well, here 'tis. Hope you like it!!!

Oh - and on a similar note, I finally came up with a name for the waltz I wrote a couple of weeks ago: "A Pursuit of Clarity!" 'Cause that's a lot of what it encompasses....
