in light of the coming holiday...

This year, I've been thinking a lot about the supports I have in my life and how grateful I am to have them. I have so many people vouching for me and helping me and guiding me...

It's really beautiful.

So for the first time, I'm sending out thank yous around Thanksgiving to several people who have guided me in various ways. It's interesting, because in school there has also been a lot of discussion around gratitude and making cards for people.... they do that every year, but this year it feels more... poignant.

I was out sick Friday with an awful, AWFUL cold... I started making a couple cards then, but not a whole bunch. My body ached a lot and I was kind of weak, so cutting with the exacto knife wasn't really a good deal :P. I made more yesterday, when I was still not great but feeling a bit better. And I have been having SO much fun!!! Making cards for specific people with designs just for them is so nice, and who doesn't love being crafty? It's a good feeling.

I won't share all of them individually, since... well, that doesn't feel right. I mean, they're for specific people, and that's kind of personal... but here's a small cluster view of most of them (which maybe isn't any different...?):

I'll show you one up close since I'm kind of proud of it... you can probably guess who it's for, but I'm not going to say who for the sake of keeping it personal.

Even though it's simple, I am super happy with this one, since I'm not very gifted when it comes to actually drawing things.... but it came out kind of cute and fun! And it actually LOOKS like a violin! yussssssss.

I'll also show you this one, since it's for no one in particular. It started as a mistake... I was cutting out the daisy (for someone in particular), and then I wrote thank you on the card in sharpie (note to self - use pencil first!!!) and I didn't like the way it looked. I was going to recycle it, but today I realized I could save the design by cutting out the daisy cut-out, and using that for a new card! So voila:

It's got some space for writing on the front, too, which is good.

So that's what I did while I wasn't feeling well... now (as in today) I'm doing homework. I'm currently taking a break from English... when I finish this I will switch to math, then back to English, then back to math then back to English AHHHH MY LIFE.

...just until the end of the semester. And soon I get a break and will cease my melodrama since it's almost Thanksgiving!!!!! Which brings me to:

My Thanksgiving Break To-Do List:
    ~ get. caught. up
~ attack ma chambre: clean out, clean up, dust, vacuum, windex, the whole shabang
~ catch up on my correspondences.... (Carolyn and Taylor, letters are coming I PROMISE)
~write in and send out the cards (ha, yes, I have not yet written the messages.... I need a good chunk of time to write exactly what I want to say)
~ go somewhere pretty and take pictures.
    ~ play lotsa music
    ~ see some friends
    ~ look for photography/fiddling opportunities
    ~ get generally rejuvenated!!

So that's my plan.... off to resume homework.

Ta-ta...
