an updated recording of a waltz in G major...

I re-recorded the song with piano accompaniment. I was going to play the same accompaniment on guitar, but it was too fast for me... haha. I need to practice, then I will record that, too. For now, here is the waltz with piano!!! It's still not an ideal recording - I only played the song through once on the violin, so I'm not perfectly in tune, but I was excited and wanted to rip off a recording quickly. ALSO violin is not tuned to the piano, so the two instruments are off. Any musicians.... I apologize for your screaming ears.

It took me a long time to get the piano accompaniment to my liking... there was a lot of recording and messing up and deleting and recording and messing up and deleting... etc. I wanted to have no mistakes, which was easier said than done (especially since I am not a piano player....). I was getting frustrated with the process and Eva (also frustrated with hearing the same thing over and over again) said to me, "Alexa, can I tell you something? When I'm in Team Dance, sometimes I have to perform with half the class in front of the other half. I don't want to mess up, because then the people watching will tell me my mistakes, so I just pretend there is no audience and I'm dancing alone. Then I don't mess up! Maybe you should pretend the computer isn't there, and you will record it the way you want it!"

My eight year old sister said this to me.... smart much? And after her suggestion, the recording went much more smoothly.

..speaking of Eva, I have my first violin lesson with her today! I am so excited, and a bit nervous... I have never taught anyone how to play the violin before, but I think it will go well and be a good experience for both of us.

Here's my updated recording. Hope you enjoy it! I had to make it into a movie because I couldn't upload otherwise, so it's just the same picture the whole time... ha.

  1. Oh, Alexa! I've just caught up on your blog here. What fun to listen to the birthing of your wonderful waltz. I have NO idea how difficult it must be to play two notes on the violin simultaneously. Wow.

I kept visualizing the fall leaves as I listened. Maybe your beautiful tune is "Autumnal Waltz" --

We're back now. See you soon? Much love XOXO
